3 June 2020 - New insurance models to increase the resilience of forests, mountain landscapes and related ecosystem services

Introduction to the EIT Climate-KIC “Holistic Resilience” project, general presentation of the project (context, methods). Background, the logic of the «Pathfinder projects», the objectives of the «Holistic Resilience» project and the project partners. Presentation to "problem owners" (forest owners and managers) and other interested parties of the draft questionnaire for identifying potential users and sampling methods for identifying needs and for mapping perceived risks. A specific moment of the discussion concerned the importance of "risk management" for forestry in the context of climate change and the consequent increase in the occurrence of extreme adverse events (eg. Floods, windstorms, fires, droughts, parasites ), citing existing cases and experiences of forests covered by insurance schemes. Suggestions were collected regarding the subsequent phases whose timing was illustrated. Due to the restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic, collaboration has been fostered and built through online meetings and interactions via web-based facilitation platforms.
